Happy Saturdays fellow fashion style moguls! How is your weekend coming along? Today we come to the end of the sweater dress edition but that don’t mean that I won’t wear knits again on the blog, the hell you think! Knits are what I live in, so forgive me if you happen to see them again.
Since today is on a weekend and it is chilly back here in Nairobi and drizzling too, this means no jogging for me, why do bad things happen to me? I decided to go really chunky on my sweater dress today and I believe if your upper half is covered in chunky knits, sweaters or cardigans, make sure you’re wearing posh shoes or sexy heels and that is what I did! With that ,you can forget about granny style, speaking of grandmother, I have three amazing grandmothers and I love them all to death.
My mum’s mum raised me since I was three years when my mum went to the States for sixteen years and she is the most hardworking and loving person I’ve known since my tender age. She taught me the art of feminism at a tender age by throwing away my dolls and buying me toy cars so that I could focus on my education and be career woman before getting a family. She always lied that she went to school till university so that she could inspire me and I always looked up to her even after finding out that she had been lying, lol! Tough love does indeed work!
My second grandmother is my dad’s mum, I have known her for five years now and I have to say that is enough time to make a judgement and say that she is a strong woman and super hardworking, she was able to raise her children mostly on her own and she toiled and moiled to provide for them all and they are all successful right now! She still works by venturing into real estate and she is very entrepreneurial, she has the best fashion sense ever, I see where my gift came from(It’s a family thing).
My third grandmother is my second mum’s mum, she is the wisest and most Intelligent woman I have ever met, having gone to school I’d expect nothing less. She held a prestigious job at The University of Nairobi back in her day and she then decided to quit and start a shop, talk about the spirit of entrepreneurship! I have so much to say about all my grandmothers but I’ll save the rest for another day.
All in all my grandmothers all share the qualities of hard work, strong personalities and the spirit of entrepreneurship, Is the world trying to tell me something? Huh!
Not to mention the textures they come in. Knits alright, but they range from those chunky thick styles to those thin, almost sheer, silky designs. Literally a million ways to do this trend, without even overdoing it, and always looking effortless, slightly boho-chic, but very polished in a cozy kinda way. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
What did you think of the post? Let me know on the comment box below! Today am attending the Jumia Kenya glamour awards, hope to see you there!
If loving fashion is a crime, I plead guilty!
Stay fashionable, stay stylish and be a fashion style mogul!
