Happy Thursdays fellow fashion style moguls, how is the going? Let me know on the comment box below. I remember telling you guys that I’ll be attending the Kenya Glamour Awards. You are probably wondering what this is, then your girl here got you. This post is actually overdue but better late than never, am I right or am I right?
In the US they have the council of fashion designers of America awards, in the UK, they have the Global fashion awards and in Kenya we now have the Kenya Glamour Awards! These awards are aimed to celebrate fashion extraordinaire and those people related to the fashion industry (fashion designers, fashion models, fashion bloggers, best dressed CEOs, best dressed celebrities, best dressed media personalities, fashion magazines, photographers……etc!). Congrats to everyone who won! These are not the only people that won, I didn’t get all the photos, pardon me for that. Dj Sadic, Dj Joe Mfalme and the list is endless!
This was the first time we were having these awards here in Kenya and I was so pleased to attend them. The beauty about these awards is the fact that they recognize both those who are new and those who have been in the fashion industry for a while which is fantastic if you ask me! It gives the newbies in the industry a platform and the confidence to grow, how cool is that? These awards also do recognize plus size models which is something that has not been in the fashion industry for long, the fashion industry has mostly had a perception for lean models because that has been their definition of a model. There were very many categories and I was able to combine a few photos of some of the people who were awarded, I can remember some categories but not all(well forgive me if I was too busy doing the wine tasting from Rigogolo wines which was rather more of drinking, and since you asked, I preferred the red wine). Oga Obina and Owago Onyiro were there to crack us up with jokes, I literally died, I couldn’t……I just couldn’t……..!
The main organizers were Bevern Oguk, the creative director and co- founder of C0-BE Inc and Nick Junior the owner of knit-wear models. Jumia was the biggest sponsor among many other sponsors. The event was filled with celebrities in the Kenyan industry. During the event I met the most amazing souls and we just clicked, (you never know what you have been missing till it comes along) and these are the people I had been missing my whole life! We had an instant connection and I believe that was love at first sight! They are fellow fashion bloggers and they had actually been nominated that night. They work as a duo but they fit in each others life like Cinderella and her shoe#perfect for each other and to top it all they are best friends! These souls are Jonathan Bii and Ian Anzabwa and they run the garrisonempire.net. Avril did perform KITU KIMOJA and her voice is even better in person, how cool is that? She also gave a little speech about the entertainment industry in Kenya and the fact that we are all one and should be supportive of each other, I was personally touched. Jay did perform DUMBALA and it was off the hook and he won best dressed male celebrity of the year! It was fruitful event I must say!
Everyone was dressed to kill on that red carpet……….The highest heels were worn and the best outfits were not spared.
Don’t forget to tell a friend about the post, sharing is caring! Let’s connect on social media too, follow, follow, follow! What did you think of the event? Let me know on the comment box below.
The red carpet has to be felt to be believed…..
I either dress like I’m going to be on a red carpet event or like I’m a homeless drug addict. There is no in between……
Stay fashionable, stay stylish and be a fashion style mogul!
