When life gives you rainy days, wear cute boots and jump in the puddles.
Kenyans can attest of late, the rains—heavy or mere drizzles—can inspire absolute dread for the well-heeled type of shoes. What’s a fashionista to do? My advice: get your feet into a pair of gumboots (which are as important to a girl’s wardrobe as an LBD). No longer just for young kids puddle jumping, gumboots (aka wellies, rain boots, rubber boots) have your feet sorted for when the heavens decide to open up and dump.
Wear them to and fro only, or leave ’em on all day. If you need proof of their cool factor, designers like Burberry, Jimmy Choo and Marc Jacobs are on the bandwagon, and celebs such as Alexa Chung, Rita Ora, Naomi Campbell, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry, Reese Witherspoon and Kate Moss among many others have made these weather stompers de rigueur from the mud bowls of Glastonbury to the slippery sidewalks of London and New York.
What’s genius: the boot opening is wide, making either a tucked-in skinny pant or a floaty dress give off that throwaway chic vibe. If you listen to me, you’ll be singing in the rain next time it pours. I decided to style my white gumboots with a sweater dress and a clear umbrella because the rains have been very unforgiving, I can’t wait to tell you the ordeal that prompted me to get these gumboots in the next post.
It is good to be back, I had missed this sphere and I will let you in on what has me all busy and caught up and NO, it is not vacation!
Stay fashionable, stay stylish and be a fashion style mogul!
