Following collaborations with Louis Vuitton, Nike and most recently Adidas Originals, West is no stranger to designing and selling trainers. His latest release, the all-black Yeezy Boost 350, were first unveiled in his February fashion show last year but new colors were added February 2016’s show in Madison Square Gardens and the black version was re-released then.
The low-top shoe looks more like a conventional trainer made using high-tech materials made from tonal primeknit – which Adidas boasts is a ‘breakthrough material’ and uses digital engineering to ‘fit like a second skin’. The black outsoles are said to have ‘highly responsive properties to offer an unparalleled level of comfort, performance, and style. The Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 in black had a retail price of $200 through official channels but now used pairs are up for as much as $2,000 on Ebay. Thanks to the seriously limited quantities, people have been known to line up for hours – even days to score a pair of the coveted shoes.
The rapper and designer proved his talent on and off the catwalk with his Season Three show last month with a spectacle that featured new clothes designs, British supermodel Naomi Campbell, 45, and the unveiling of his new album, The Life of Pablo. Despite selling out New York City’s Madison Square Garden – and a front row including Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and of course his wife Kim Kardashian West – with the show, he still finished second to Puma for the most talked about designers and brands on Twitter.
From musicians Pharrell Williams, 42, and Taylor Swift, 26, who has worn them to the gym, and Jaden Smith, 17, who has been known to keep the tag on, the list of celebrity Yeezy fans is pretty wide-reaching – and that’s before you get started on his own family. The Kardashian-Jenner clan all put in an impressive attendance at the rapper’s NYFW show, all wearing specially-made ensembles designed for them by Kanye in collaboration with Balmain designer and family friend Olivier Rousteing.
Yeezys are still pricey but they are worth every single penny if you ask me. For a cold day look considering that it is fall in the Western countries, I added a trench coat on the top and leggings and voila, I was warm and cozy. I also added a blue baseball cap for a bit of edge and off course wore the Yeezy Boost 350. I can’t wait to tell you how I got these bad boys on my next post!
Stay fashionable, stay stylish and be a fashion style mogul!
